The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of John Valentino can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence From: Rich Valentino
Condolence: It is very difficult for me to express what I feel in my heart in words or print but in this case I feel that I have to tell what a positive role my brother John played in my life. John was 9 years older than me so he was a teenager when I was a child but I have memories of us roughhousing in the house or playing catch in the street and I can remember him pulling kids off me when I was being picked on by the older boys. As everyone knows John was a firefighter for over 20 years risking his life every shift he worked to serve the public. When he retired instead of sitting at home enjoying his retirement what does he do he become a Registered Nurse and again worked in a field where he could serve his fellow human beings. This is the kind of person John was and I always looked up and admired him for this and was always proud to tell people what kind of person my brother was like. I don't think it is some small coincidence that I became a volunteer firefighter for 15 years or became an RN later in my life as John did, in fact it was John who suggested to me to become a nurse when I was at a cross road in my previous career. John and Marianne both played a huge role in helping me become a nurse as they tutored and guided me all through nursing school. Like any siblings we had our ups and downs growing up but the ups far surpassed the downs and I will always love him and I will surely miss him.
Your brother;
Rich

Condolence: We have been family for a very long time...It is going to be very hard saying goodbye...We have had wonderful family dinners-happy vacationing times in Mexico, Bahamas, Florida and Powhatan...Will always remember your sense of humor, your joking ways, and Marianne was the best decision you ever made,,,She made you a compassionate person and you certainly blossomed married to her....Wish it could have been a little longer brother in law....I know how your brother is going to miss you...He has a gruff exterior but he has always loved you....so, until we meet again John- Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same,but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again...RIP XOXO -

Condolence: My heart goes out to Marianne and other members of John's family. John, Marianne, and other members of Cedar Park Neighbors helped plant our lovely street tree as well as other trees on our block. Our trees are a testament to John's good work.
